PostSubject: Will WWE ever be the same again?   Thu Jul 17, 2008 2:44 pm

Yesterday I finished watching the Rock's DVD and as I began to pour through the twenty some interviews segments they had included, I realized just how different wrestling is now than it was 6 or 7 years ago. The biggest change is how much promos now suck in comparison to back then. The Rock was the king of it and I didn't even realize how big a gap was left until I saw some of his old work. But it's not just the Rock, there's also no Mick Foley (although his commentary is fairly decent) or Stone Cold. Promos these days all seem to be the same. Someone's either angry (see Edge) or someone just talks. They just lack the energy that promos used to have and I think that is hurting wrestling almost as much as the E taking too long to develop new stars.

Now, I know they can't just replace the Rock overnight. It is a little hard to find a third generation, athletic, charismatic, handsome wrestler that is just ready to go. But if wrestling is to ever have another boom, they need to find one or two guys that can get it done both on the mic and in the ring. Looking at the current roster, does anyone see a person that might develop into this kind of character?
